Protocosmic was started in Santiago, Chile in 2006 in order to bring some material written by keyboardist Juan Eduardo Rodriguez into a live band format. The first to join was Toño Andalaft who played with Juan Eduardo in the progressive rock band Dwalin during the nineties. Then there was a long parade of female vocalists who just didn't function well with the group until Juan Eduardo and Toño met Andie Casagrande whose voice and ideas became a major contribution to the musical concept behind the band. Last to join was bassist Mauricio Quiroga-Pascal, with great experience in heavy rock bands such as The Shrink and Kraal. Protocosmic's first album "Combing the Doll" is to be released September/October 2008.
